Referee Training Clinic
This workshop clinic is designed to give participants a solid understanding of the rules and increase their ability to score-keep and referee matches. Surrey Pickleball Club sponsors a number of tournaments throughout the season and referees are needed to ensure a respected event for all competitors. Additionally, the clinic will enhance your own interpretation of common and uncommon court scenarios.
Ross Priebe, who earned his status as a Certified Referee in February 2024 will be teaching and leading this session. He has been a Level Two Referee since 2021 prior to receiving his full-certification. Ross is one of 12 Certified Referees in the province of BC.
The clinic will be based on the 2025 Official Rulebook and the Referee Handbook, which covers “Best Practices” for referees. A classroom presentation will be followed by on-the-court practical training.
Participants are asked to complete the Player’s Test and the Referee’s Test prior to the day of the clinic. https://pickleballcanada.org/officiating-program/ Additionally, participants are required to attend the clinic ready to play for the on-court training experience.
